After what happened last year, I did not want to have a Christmas at all. I wasn't looking forward to it, and I was going to stay at home and sulk in my own little world. This would have been self-destructive of course, but I know that I would have done it anyway.
That didn't happen however. The young lady that I am quite smitten with, invited me to her family Christmas. I must admit that I was extremely nervous. I am a rather solitary person by nature (at least outside of the Matrix), and I was a bit apprehensive. I was afraid that they wouldn't like me, that I may have been oversold, and I wanted to make a good impression. She told me to relax and just enjoy myself. She was right of course. I had what I would easily say was the best Christmas that I have ever had. Her family is incredible! Her mom is a very caring person (I see where she gets it), her dad is very quick-witted and affectionate with his family, her sister is cool as all heck, and her grandma is one of the funniest people that I have ever seen in person! What a terrific family!
Thanks hon! You made my Christmas! :-)
I know that this is largely due to how happy I was post-Xmas, but when I bopped into my family to say hello and such, things went really well on that front as well! Bear in mind that I wasn't there very long, but I had a good time. :-)
It was a great Christmas. Days later, I feel like I need a nap. And that is extremely rare.
I would like to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas! I am not much of a family person (due to my family and all), but I can appreciate the importance of this time of year. It is always nice to reconnect with friends and family, especially this time of year.
Anyways, I won't make this more verbose than it needs be. Have a terrific holiday!
Cheers!
Is there anything better than the A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack expertly performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio? Depending on the context or the situation, I dare say not! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, you can't deny the hushed ambience of 'My Little Drum' (based on the Little Drummer Boy), or the jazzy freakout of 'Linus and Lucy.' Sure the slightly piercing sound of children's voices singing 'Christmas Time Is Here' might not be everyone's cup of tea (I love it, since I am a HUGE!!! Peanuts fan), but that's what the sublime instrumental version is for. My personal favorite on this 11-song soundtrack is 'Skating,' which is just brushed drums, a walking bass, and some nimble piano work. Not your typical cartoon fare, this soundtrack was a revolution in cool back in the 60's when the cartoon first debuted (no I wasn't born then, thanks), and the timeless playing holds up today.
